After the successful launch of http://www.SportsCardDatabase.com earlier this year and our big hardware upgrade, we decided it was time put in some work on making SportsCollectors.Net even better. Today we had our first code release in quite some time.

We have a long list of great features that we are planning on building (many coming from your suggestions), so we decided to break it up into a few releases. This way you guys can get access to new functionalities faster and we get more of your feedback.

We plan to have at least 3 releases in the coming 2 months. While this first release contained many backend and admin tools updates that most of our members won't see, we did squeeze in a few new bells and whistles:

Favorite Players and Groups

At the end of 2007, we launched a very cool feature that allowed premium members to track your favorite players.

Therion had an excellent suggestion that we should add the ability for you to create groups for your favorite players. This way everyone can track all the guys you need for a set or a specific project.

Latest Successes for Teams:

We added a new tab on any of the team pages that will allow you to see the latest successes for members of that team.

More Request Types in our Autograph Trakcing

For 8 years, you have had the option to choose Sigs By Mail, In Person, or Email when tracking your requests and collection. We've added 2 more to help y ou more accurately keep track of how you acquire your autographs:

• Bought / Traded For
• Private Signing / Card Show

Captcha Added when Logging in

We took a necessary security precaution and a Captcha to our login page. You will now need to enter a 6 digit number when you log in. This was done to help prevent potential issues and alleviate stress on our servers.

Trader Ratings now in Message Board Posts

We have added members' Trade Rating, so it's easy to know the trade history of a particular member.

Better Alerts about our Trading Policies for newer members

We have added alerts when members with feedback ratings of less than 5, that they must send trade items first, they can not sell items, and they can not offer private signings - per our trading policy.

Fixed some small bugs and issues

There were some small things that members reported that bugged us, so we fixed them here.
