For the past 4 years, I've posted a Happy New Year posting to review the highlights on the site, collecting in general, and my collection. Usually I start by showing a bunch of stats about the site, but this year I have some other stuff to start with.
Much like in 2008, you guys may have noticed that I haven't been posting messages or responding to everyone as much I would like. I'm still on the site quite a bit, but once again it's been quite busy in the Grossman household. On November 19th, we welcomed our second child to the family. It's a boy and his name is Jack.
He may not know it quite yet, but his older sister (now three) and I are going to make sure he is:
1) a huge Boston sports fan - she is quick to tell everyone "Go Red Sox, Boo Yankees"
2) a sports card collector - she has her own album and is a Yao Ming fan
3) a fan of cartoons, sesame street, and the muppets

The SCN community wound up having a really amazing year once again, as the site keeps growing and keeps getting better. The numbers always seem to do a pretty good job of telling some of the story:
Last year we added the Card Sets and Wantlists feature. Lots of members have been using this to track their sets. In November, there was a really cool idea where dozens of members went through wantlists and generously gave items from their collections to help others. It was one of the most awesome things that we've had happen on SCN, and II both sent items and received some signed cards.

Private signings have really become a great way to get so many players who we can't get by mail. This is the first full year with the new Private Signings section, and we had over 1000 of them on the site. I took part of a few of them to get the following signed cards:
It was definitely tough as we lost so many great athletes. Here's a list of 200+ Players who passed away in 2011:
